I abandoned my email

We are in the age of over-consuming….email and data.  I have information coming at me from 4 different emails, Slack, Teams, Instagram, Messenger, Linkedin, Google chat, text and phone.  Did I forget anything?  That is a lot!  Twelve places I have information coming at me and I need to check.  I tried staying on top of the email and even spent time unsubscribing to newsletters that no longer serve me.  But what I found, is even if you unsubscribe, you can still be on their list.  And I think 3 times a day or daily content is too much.  I asked one of my VP of Sales what the perfect guidance was and he said everything the other day.  I disagree.  I get follow-up emails from solicitors asking if I saw their email from 2 days ago.  Automatic delete.  And how do you go from connecting on Linkedin to being added to your newsletter list?  Automatic delete.

I used to catch up on these emails over the weekend but no more.  I heard from a VP of Marketing who said it was taking her 1 hour to clean out her email every morning from the solicitations.  One hour!  She even went so far as talking to their IT department to implement stricter parameters.  My head is spinning and so I decided to abandoned one of my emails.  I took all the important and relevant information and consolidated it into one personal email and will never check the other one again.  If it is that important, it will find it’s way back to me.
