It is only the second week of the new year and I am already hearing people talk about the need for a break. When you look up the definition of burnout, it says, “ruin one’s health or become completely exhausted through overwork” So why would we feel burnout when we just came off the Christmas holiday break? It is because we are not burned out, we are gaslight. You are being told that the job market and unemployment are low but you are not feeling it You are working a full-time job and feeling stretched. There isn’t that extra money to feel like what you do matters. Every part of your paycheck goes to taxes, healthcare, and essential costs. You either need to cut expenses or make more money. And this is where the side hustle culture comes into play. 45% of working Americans currently have a side hustle. 30% of those said they needed the extra money to cover basic costs. If you are looking for a side hustle or want to create a side hustle to leave your 9-5, here is where I would start:
- Write a list of your skill sets
- What are you passionate about
- List a problem that you think needs solving
- Figure out if you will need money to invest in your side business. Remember, email, websites, systems, and tools can/will cost money
- Carve out time every day to work on this
- Create a plan
- Execute on plan!
